Each year, the Bishop of Parramatta Awards for Student Excellence recognise the achievements Year 12 students from Catholic schools across the Diocese.
This year's recipient from Nagle College was our College Captain, Derica Elogious. Her citation below shows why Derica was a deserved recipient.
Derica Elogious has held the lantern high in her years at Nagle College, providing witness to the Gospel values.
She has been inspired by Nano Nagle's service to those in need through her participation in the Winter Sleepout, Project Compassion and the Vinnies Van.
Derica has served the school faithfully as school captain, leading by example at the weekly school Mass.
She is a gifted public speaker and debater who has represented the school with distinction. Derica has ensured that she has been a focused and committed learner who has achieved at the highest levels across her programme of studies.
She is an active member of her parish, providing youth leadership and service.
Derica is a person of faith, an outstanding student and an inspiring leader.

Four of our Year 12 student leaders recently attended the LIFTED Breakfast with the Bishop, joining student leaders from across the Diocese for a morning of dialogue, reflection, and leadership formation. The opportunity to engage with Bishop Vincent Long Van Nguyen OFM Conv and Jack de Groot allowed our students to share their experiences of Catholic education, offer insights into student life, and contribute to important conversations that will help shape the future of Catholic Schools Parramatta Diocese. Our Year 11 Biology and Investigating Science students recently traded the classroom for the great outdoors at the Penrith Lakes Environmental Education Centre, where they explored ecosystem dynamics in a real freshwater environment. Through hands-on fieldwork, students tested water quality, sampled macro-invertebrates, and investigated the delicate balance between abiotic and biotic factors. π Our Year 10 students and their families recently took an important step towards the future at our Year 10 into Year 11 Subject Selection Information Evening. The evening provided valuable insights into the HSC journey, with students hearing from our Leaders of Learning about the courses available in 2027 and the many pathways beyond school. Families also received practical guidance on university entry and senior study through the UAC Steps to Uni for Year 10 Students resource. Choosing subjects is about discovering strengths, exploring passions, and making informed decisions for the future. πΊβ¨ Nagle College was proud to deliver an outstanding performance at the CSPD Pasifika Fiafia Night. The event provided a wonderful opportunity for our students to celebrate and showcase their cultural heritage through music, dance, and performance. Their hard work and dedication were on full display as they had the honour of closing the show, sharing their talents with the wider community. This achievement was the result of weeks of commitment, with students rehearsing during break times and after school in preparation for the event.
